The Vleurgat and Baljuwtunnel in Brussels are currently undergoing extensive renovations to enhance their structural integrity and safety. This ambitious project involves the use of advanced materials and techniques to ensure the tunnels meet modern standards. Promat has been a key contributor to this renovation, delivering 220 tons of Cafco FENDOLITE ® Mll. This high-performance fire protection spray has been applied to a temporary steel structure that supports the concrete structure of the tunnels during the renovation process. This specific construction needed protection against exposure to the HC fire curve, ensuring it can withstand high temperatures in the event of a fire. The temporary steel structure is a critical component of the renovation, providing essential support to the concrete structure of the tunnels. This steel framework will remain in place for approximately five years, after which it will be removed once the renovation is complete and the concrete structure is fully stabilized.
