Forensic Psychiatric Centre, located at the Wiedauwkaai Gent, will be responsible for the care and treatment of prisoners with mental health problems. This center can be compared to a psychiatric hospital but with the safety features of a prison. This is the first centre to be built in Belgium.
When realising this building the highest safety standards were taken into account, including in the field of fire safety. For example, the shafts with utilities are protected with fire-resistant PROMATECT®-100 of 15 mm for a fire resistance of 2 hours. This was carried out by Heymans Building. The company Meyvaert from Gent, global specialist in the areas of fire-resistant glass, safety glass and fire-resistant glass doors, installed the window and door profiles in the building with PROMATECT®-H boards of 20 mm thick for a fire resistance of 2 hours. These boards were sawed professionally by our distributor Callewaert from Kuurne. For protection Rf 2h of the steel beams in the building, the contractor chose for spraying a fire-resistant spray mortar Cafco MANDOLITE®-CP2. Also the penetrations of fire compartments was given the necessary attention. For this, use was made of,PROMASTOP® CB pretreated rock wool mats and PROMASTOP®-I fireproof paint.
