A fire burning in a fireplace made from PROMAFOUR® system components

A fire or stove represents an important added value to your house. It creates a good atmosphere and a lot of cosiness and is also an excellent choice with regard to rational energy consumption and cost efficiency. The key to this efficiency can be simply the use of high performance insulation to control heat loss to the building structure around the appliance and from the chimney. Promat has special solutions designed to make this happen.

No compromise on safety, efficiency and design

We often tend to forget that fire and heat can also be a risk. Depending on the way of heating, a misapplication of building materials next to a fireplace can cause fire or burns. As a specialist in passive fire protection and high performance insulation, we at Promat are well aware of these risks. Therefore, we have designed the PROMAFOUR® system; the first complete solution for fireplaces. PROMAFOUR® is a safe, reliable and robust solution for a sustainable insulation and mantelpiece for your fireplace. The PROMAFOUR® system was specifically created to maximise the efficiency of these units and finish them in elegant, modern styles, without having to compromise on the interior design of the home.

Flexible and state-of-the-art

What makes PROMAFOUR® so unique, is that you can install it very easily with standard tools and you don’t need to plaster it additionally before you paint it or hang wallpaper. PROMAFOUR® is the ideal solution for fireplaces in new buildings as well as renovation projects.

A traditional open fire, although still used in some older properties, is becoming a thing of the past. With much of the heat generated disappearing up the chimney, an open coal fire was only 25 % efficient at best with a log fire even worse. A modern multi-fuel or wood burning stove can be up to 85 % efficient. Although sometimes seen as a freestanding unit, these are more conventionally built into a fireplace.

Promat can offer the PROMAFOUR® insulation solution that solves all of these design needs. We can design an "engineered solution" that best meets all design challenges. With access to the very best microporous, calcium silicate and fibre insulation products, a Promat system cannot be beat on performance.

Key advantages of the PROMAFOUR® system

A freestanding stove is free to radiate heat in all directions. Natural convection can also occur uninhibited. It can be helpful to stand these appliances on insulation and it is certainly beneficial to insulate the flue as discussed in the chimney and flue applications tab. When a stove is contained in a fireplace, the challenge is to ensure that the heat generated flows forward into the living area and does not simply dissipate into the building and fireplace structure around the fire. Promat achieves this with PROMAFOUR®, a range of insulation products that can isolate the heat source from the structure around it and finish off the installation in a classy and attractive manner.
