Park Sydney is a new development in Sydney's inner west. Botany and Cascade are the first buildings in Stage 1 of the development for what will be almost a new suburb.
The site requirement was for a rigid weather barrier for use behind ventilated rainscreen constructed of compressed fibre cement and aluminium cladding that was capable of withstanding higher wind loading. Due to the building not being sprinkler protected, all external walls were required to have an FRL not less than -/60/60. This was easily achieved using 13mm WEATHER DEFENCE™ board and FR internal plasterboard. Further to this, the use of rigid board provided increased acoustic performance over pliable sarking membranes, whilst still being highly vapour permeable to control interstitial condensation risks.
Over 10,000m2 of board has been supplied for the project which is the first major project for the WEATHER DEFENCE™ board in Australia.
As it was the first project Promat and our distributors were on hand at any time for technical support and back up when it was required. We conducted on site training at the beginning of the job running though, fixing, taping and sealing of the boards and fixtures. As well as ensuring a robust QA is put in place before any cladding is applied. This service will also be available for future projects.
