A safe flow and distribution of fresh air
In case of fire, smoke and flames use the ventilation channels to travel rapidly throughout the building. The fire rated ventilation system prevents smoke from spreading and maintains the natural inflow of fresh air.
Fire rated extraction of smoke and hot air
In case of fire, only a fire rated duct will extract the smoke and hot air efficiently through all the fire rated walls and floors.
If the ductwork extracts smoke from a sinle fire compartment it needs to resist temperatures up to 600°C)
If the ductwork connects 2 or more compartments, it must resist the full development of a fire (ISO fire curve)
